Regenerative Agriculture
Farming in Partnership with NatureThe foundation of human well-being lies in healthy soils and healthy food. The best indicators of ecological regeneration are improved soil quality and increased biodiversity. To achieve this, our farming practice includes groundwater management, reforestation, enhancement of soil biome, agro-forestry and natural fire protection.
Our vegetable gardens will supply produce for the restaurants, including winter salad vegetables, squashes, pumpkins, corn and rye. The forest gardens and orchards will provide delicious fruits and nuts. The botanical gardens will supply medicinal plants for the apothecary and for a range of soaps and body care products.
Beira Alta has many ancient olive groves and chestnut forests and we are working on the creation of a viable model to make sure these precious natural resources are fully managed, providing livelihood and supporting the economic and ecological regeneration of the region.
