Nature Spa

Health Sanctuary

A lost treasure of the ancient world — where healing waters and timeless beauty meet.

The Nature Spa is a sanctuary of restoration and inspiration, built around healing waters from the time of the Lusitani.

At its heart stands the Solar dos Girões, a noble manor house constructed more than 400 years ago as the home of the Beltrão family. Built on granite rock across four levels, it is now being lovingly reborn — a delicate balance of restoration and innovation that has tested the skill and creativity of master builders and engineers.

When it opens, this unique heritage building will welcome guests into an atmosphere of tranquillity and renewal. The exquisite gardens, mineral-rich springs, and surrounding forests will once again offer health, inspiration, and connection with nature.

The reception rooms have been restored as graceful spaces for yoga, meditation, and gatherings. The former wine cellars now serve as a conference centre with live-streaming facilities, blending history with technology. The 23 bedrooms are elegant and energy-efficient, while the Spa itself is nourished by natural spring water from the mountain’s ancient water mines.

The Nature Spa is a sanctuary for rest, respite, and renewal.

The Olive Mill Restaurant

A heritage landmark reborn — a feast of nature, heritage, and hospitality.

This iconic building once served as an olive mill, powered by the flowing waters of the Muxagata River. Today, it begins a new chapter as a farm-pub and restaurant, where the original milling system has been ingeniously repurposed to generate clean hydro-electric power.

The menu celebrates international cuisine with a farm-to-table philosophy. Fresh produce arrives daily from neighbouring fields, while foraged ingredients from the valley bring a taste of the wild to every dish.

Guests will enjoy a gastronomic experience that blends innovation with authenticity — rooted in Beira Alta hospitalityand infused with creativity and care.

The Olive Mill Restaurant will be a destination for those who seek something fresh, exciting, and inspired by the land itself.

Discovery park

Immersed in nature — comfort, creativity, and connection beneath the stars

Nestled in a secluded valley surrounded by forested hills, the Discovery Park invites guests to experience the wild beauty of Vale das Lobas in comfort and style. Designed for those who seek authenticity without compromise, it offers a rare harmony between nature and hospitality.

Elegant glamping lodges and eco-cabins are set among ancient olive trees and terraces, each crafted with sustainable materials and gentle design. The spaces open to expansive views of the mountains and sky — perfect for quiet reflection, family adventure, or creative retreat.

Here, every element has been shaped by the landscape: natural swimming pools, shaded gathering places, and walking trails that follow the rhythm of the valley. Guests are invited to reconnect — with nature, with each other, and with themselves.

Workshops, seasonal feasts, and outdoor activities bring the Discovery Park to life as a centre of learning and celebration, where visitors become participants in regeneration.

The Discovery Park is not just a place to stay — it’s an invitation to discover how deeply nature can restore and inspire.

The Chapel of

Maria Madalena

A sacred treasure — restoring harmony between art, spirit, and the Earth

Within the Nature Spa stands a chapel crafted in the 17th century, a rare jewel of Portuguese sacred art. Its exquisite iconography, delicately painted on thirty-eight chestnut panels, depicts scenes of profound symbolism and beauty, offering a window into ancient spiritual mysteries.

Now undergoing complete restoration, the chapel will once again become a space of contemplation and inspiration, open to all, regardless of creed or tradition. Upon completion, it will be dedicated to Mary Magdalene, in honour of the sacred feminine and the need to restore balance on the Earth.

Among the thirty-eight ceiling panels, this capela contains a sequence of icons depicting the education of the child Jesus by the angels. This is very rare, and it is a privilege to be able to restore them.

The Regenerative Farm

The Magic Garden — cultivating

nourishment and renewal

Food is the foundation of good health, and at Vale das Lobas we grow it with care, respect, and creativity. Our Natural Farming approach blends ancestral wisdom with modern innovation, drawing inspiration from Regenerative Organic Agriculture, Permaculture, Biodynamics, and Agroecology.

Every practice is guided by a simple principle: to work with nature, not against it. We focus on nurturing the microbiome of the soil, encouraging the growth of mycelial networks that sustain life below the surface.

In this spirit of discovery, we are regenerating the valley’s biodiversity — cultivating nutritious, vibrant food that connects directly to our farm-to-table restaurants and nourishes everyone who visits.

The Magic Garden is where health begins — in living soil, in fresh food, and in the harmony between people and the Earth.

Medicine Gardens

A living sanctuary of healing plants, natural spring water and ancient wisdom

These extensive terraced gardens are a remarkable feat of ancient engineering, with water mines that still channel irrigation by gravity. The Medicine Garden Project is transforming this landscape into a unique botanical sanctuary, where medicinal plants grow within their natural habitats.

At its heart lies the Goddess Pool, honouring the sacred feminine energy of this mountain retreat — a place for reflection, balance, and renewal.

The plants cultivated here are transformed into herbal remedies and body care products in our on-site apothecary — including the natural soaps and shampoos used by guests at the Nature Spa.

Through this work, we celebrate the harmony of nature, science, and spirit, preserving ancient knowledge while contributing to a regenerative future.

Biodiversity park

A living landscape for rewilding, regeneration, and nature discovery

The Vale das Lobas programme is transforming the valley into a Biodiversity Park — a dedicated area for biodiversity conservation, rewilding, and nature discovery.

With minimum intervention and maximum protection, nature is regenerating and rebalancing herself. The clearest signs of success are visible in the soil and in the life it supports: richer microbial activity, a greater diversity of plants, and the return of birds, insects, and wildlife. Each of these is a vital indicator of ecological recovery.

The Biodiversity Park is a community-based initiative, developed in partnership with local municipalities, landowners, and national and international organisations — including Rewilding Europe.

Together, we are creating a living model of restoration, where nature leads the way and humanity becomes her ally.
